No sooner had we arrived back in Australia, but the 2009-2010 wedding season kicked off, and it was time to shoot my first wedding of the season. I couldn't ask for nicer clients than Katherine and James -- a wonderful young couple, and this one was such fun to do. Katherine was a professional dancer, and was incredibly excited to be getting married. During the pre-wedding meeting to plan our approach, she mentioned two words to me which informed every aesthetic decision I made on the day ..."Grace Kelly". Her dress was going to be like that worn by Grace Kelly. That was all I needed to know; I knew exactly what she was after. It's so great when a client has a clear idea of what they want. Not many people realize that I tailor my photographic approach to every client. It's their personality which dictates to me the colour scheme, the choice of lenses, angles, poses, and overall mood. Katherine had chosen the Rose Pavillion in the Royal Melbourne Botanic Gardens for the ceremony location, and the weather was more than kind to us; it was an absolute corker of a day. By the way, this was the earliest wedding I've ever shot -- 10.00 in the morning! This posed it's own challenge, because the light is so temperamental then. Also, getting married in a dark location against a super-bright backdrop is always a big camera problem, but I think I solved it. Enjoy these marvellous pictures! Best regards, Joshua Winterson.
