I took my first booking for 2012 earlier this week. It's not unusual for me to get booked 2 years ahead, but typically clients book about 12 months prior. There is an obvious incentive for clients to book early. They lock in the package and get a lower price, because my price rises every year. Booking 2 years ahead saves clients at least $1000. And I only charge a $500 fee to lock everything in. The remainder doesn't have to be paid until the actual wedding.
But what happened this morning was such a strange coincidence. I took a call on the mobile from a woman who had heard about me from a previous client, and asking if I was free on the 28th August this year. A quick look at my online google calendar told me that I would be shooting another wedding then. Sorry! Booked for that at the start of the year.
Then the phone immediately rang again. Another woman -- asking for the same date!!! I thought that perhaps someone was pulling my leg, and I reacted with "You're kidding?".
When I explained to her the situation, I could tell from her dubious tone that she was thinking I was one of those salespeople that urges people to make a fast decision because another supposed buyer is about to grab it. But no, I'm not one of those. Honest!
