A big (semi) formal group portrait of everyone ...
You can get back to the start of the pictures
here.
For those interested in photography, here's a note about the technical side of this job: when I walked into the room, it was so dark, my eyes needed time to adjust. I tried to use my camera without flash (my preferred method, because it's more discreet, less intrusive, and more natural). But even with maximum settings on the camera, there just wasn't enough light. This room was DARK. I could have put the camera on a tripod, and left the shutter open for awhile to soak up the light, but that would have resulted in blurry faces (because people move during slow shutter shots). There wasn't enough room for a tripod anyway! Ablas is a tiny place. What to do? The solution was a small wireless strobe light tucked away in the corner of the room. It lights up the room while I take the shot, and most of the time, people don't notice it going off (it's certainly not flashing directly into their face). Everytime I use it, I give silent thanks for the investment, and today's technology that makes it possible.
Best regards,
Joshua.
