This was an extraordinary assignment. A local family wanted to present a unique gift to the patriarch of the family ("Nonno"), on his 75th birthday. They wanted a group picture of 11 grandchildren together, but "not the usual laneway shot". They wanted something out of the box, unique, and very special. Could I think of something? On the spur of the moment, I came up with the idea of getting all the children at a car wash, washing the family car. What I didn't know was that the family car was a cement truck! All the better for a fabulous picture. It was incredibly difficult to co-ordinate 11 children (aged 2 to 15) into one cohesive group shot -- and even more difficult to light them -- but somehow, my assistant and I pulled it off. (If you don't believe that it's hard to get simultaneous good expressions from 11 kids of different ages, just try it.) The framed poster (featuring 3 of the best images from the shoot, and featured below) will be presented this week -- wish I was there to see Nonno's expression! Best regards, Joshua Winterson.
